Crystal King Makeover: One small step in development?
I've been feeling just a smidgen guilty lately that I'm putting so much thought and time into the CP sequels and just sort of leaving Crystal Palace itself in developmental purgatory. It's not like my ideas haven't changed at all since a couple years ago. To the contrary, A LOT has changed, it's just not something I can fully describe because they aren't aspects of the plotline. Most have been changes in character design, setting design, mood, imagery... just...

Eventually I will be doing a poster that I hope sets the mood straight and makes people be able to imagine what I'm working with until "the time comes". If I could think of one thing to describe the poster, it'd be cathedral artwork. (whether it be architectural or paintings)

Anyway, the point of this post was that I wanted to show you guys a stunning example of a group posting their monster costumes on youtube. When I saw this one, I just immediately thought of the Crystal King. They do some very interesting work...

He's one of the last that needs a bit of a make-over, since I turned the Queen into sort of... a "zombie" in grey, Akira became a little more... intimidating, Cosmo became a total creep, and plans for Lady Bow to be replaced with an equally intense original character came into being. He was clearly on his way in that drawing with the Queen, but I'm not so keen on the outfit anymore, much as I like the collar, because it's rather plain and it just ties him to the game, where his little Paper Mario self was barely developed. I think this monster costume will help me in terms of giving him a better even scarier look. He should be the most enigmatic and frightening character in the story, after all.
