I found more photos from my university's production of Bat Boy: The Musical, so obviously I have to post them here!

Finally, a picture of Shelley, probably singing Show You a Thing or Two with her mother nearby.

I didn't realize that Edgar was doing that with his hands a lot of the time. CLEARLY, he is using Count Orlok as some inspiration! Pretty sure this is the song A Home for You (reprise) in which Edgar says "It's such a torture just sitting here while they slander me in public!" and reveals he's been watching ABC Family or something and knows that you were born like a human if you have a belly button. And then he flashes his own? "LOOK, I HAVE A NAVEL!" XD Can't remember.

This was a flashback scene in which Mrs. Parker was played by a boy and Mr. Parker was played by a girl. They were wonderful and dramatic. lol Turns out Mrs. Parker is Edgar's mother, so Shelley's his half sister, so they did one incestuous deed, indeed...

There was A LOT of gender-bending in our production! It was lots of fun.

A Joyful Noise, (Shelley's been totally eclipsed by Bat Boy unfortunately.) Proceeding, Edgar sings about wanting to fit into the neighborhood but gets too excited and says "Invite me to your weddings, and let me kiss the bride!"

Production photo of Evan Marshall (Edgar) and Colin Lawrence III (Pan).

And I found this of Evan while I was searching for Bat Boy stuff. I should have saved the name of the production, but I didn't. But... I guess this could give you some idea how Westin would look, even if I don't want to copy him down to the T. (That feels a little weird. XD)

Anyway, there you go. I'm so happy I found a good show for Lily's school to put on, and how some of the concepts and lyrics can be put into HT's story and make some sort of new meaning.

Ciao, mein freunden!

So, in case you didn't know, I saw Bat Boy twice at my university: once having no idea what I was going to see, and another time, in a front seat, so I could really appreciate how awesome it turned out to be. And Bat Boy kept making eye contact with me. XD

Unfortunately, I have found no productions recorded and uploaded to youtube that are that good, but I did track down some photos from our very own production. I think maybe a professional photographer took this during dress rehearsal or something, though, because I sure as hell don't remember there being someone during the show!

So Bat Boy was played by Evan Marshall, Mrs. Parker by Stephanie Hawkins, and Shelley by Rachel Edson. And as artifacts of my experience, I imagine Westin and Leslie looking similar.

Sorry - this is like the only photo I found that had Shelley in it, and Rachel Edson was making such a passionate face. XD

And omg, when this guy first started strolling on set in those stilettos, everyone was giggling.

So, there you go!

After the performance, my friend and I were lingering around the theater lobby and I ended up standing right behind Stephanie Hawkins, but I had no nerve to interrupt her conversation to say she was awesome. Evan came out a little later and immediately hugged a girl who was waiting for him... I thought maybe it was his girlfriend, but a year later I went to see another play that had him in it and I got a pretty strong impression that he was gay, actually. Ah, but it doesn't really matter. :) I always feel like thespians are in another world, a world I could have belonged to happily if I had just taken baby-steps onto the stage instead of avoided it.

Let's not dwell on that, though.
