I've got time between classes so I'm updating.

Whether you like it or not, I'm going to dedicate my journal to keeping a constant record of what I'm writing, because what else is the thing for?!

Last night, even though I was tired and wanted to go to bed, I had myself write NIL because if I didn't I'd be 2 days behind. That's only six and a half pages behind, but they start to accumulate. When I began to write, I hadn't warmed myself up with much music or videos or images; I had no tea; I wasn't really in a big mood to write it, either. But there is something compelling about it, I've realized. And suspenseful. Although Orlok is nowhere in sight, I've tried to put his presence in other sorts of things of which the characters are warily aware. Ellen and Hutter can't stop looking out the window that faces the house Orlok has just purchased. Hutter is feeling sick, Montgomery is paranoid and hiding under the bed, and Ellen keeps feeling the wind blow on her from outside, or try to get in through closed windows. I can't remember anything funny about what I wrote - it was mostly serious, tense, but curious. It'll be interesting given that later there will be so many jokes, musical interferences, etc.

What I'm REALLY excited to write is the second episode. Things will start to come together about who moved in, and Hutter is inviting his parents and sister over for dinner. Instead of set-up, it will give me a chance to explore my characters, start poking at what Ellen's problems are, and introduce the huge new one - that there's a vampire!

So excited. Even more excited because in my Media & Society class, she kept bringing up popular shows to analyze. Seeing pictures of The Vampire Diaries and Twilight side-by-side will get you in the mood to say "fuck you" to that sort of shit! :)

I have to decide whether or not I'm telling my teacher about this idea, though, the one who introduced me to Nosferatu (mostly) and has appreciation for it. I'm insanely curious what she'd say, but I wonder if there's really time to bring up something that isn't overly relevant to course material. The term only started, too. :)
