I just realized how lucky I am.
Since this is a separate journal and I can't assume all the same people read it, I'll just deliver the news as if it's still news!

I had the enormous pleasure of interviewing a cast member of Adventures in Wonderland yesterday: Richard Kuhlman, the voice actor and puppeteer behind the Cheshire Cat. I hope to be posting a transcript for that on my regular journal and also posting it on the AIW website, once it's made (it'll still be a while), but since it's my story journal, I'll skip to the pertinent details.

I had offered to send him my questions through facebook, but he was all for talking over the phone, so I had a pretty lengthy discussion with him and I got to hear the Cat voice, and he even asked me to do some of my imitations, (I did Alice and Hare, although my Hare was not as good as normal because it takes concentration doing low notes and I was shaking like a leaf!) He called me convincing! Ahhhiii!

Anyway, around the end of the interview, I asked him to do a line from He's Having My Baby, and I recited the caption:

Cheshire Cat: Here's another platitude for you, Hatter... did a bug crawl up your ass and die?
Hatter: No... A bug crawled up my ass and lived! And I seriously wasn't kidding about that whole putting-you-to-sleep thing.

He laughed for like 10 seconds straight, and was even more pleased hearing the synopsis of the story and that it had to do with the Cat in a surprising way. It was sort of like magic, that I was just sitting back talking to one of the stars, and he actually liked and took interest in my "R-rated episodes". He said he would like for me to send him some. (Can you believe it?!)

I'm, quite unexpectedly, not worried at all. He seemed to be on my own side of the humor spectrum. I would've naturally been wondering about the offense factor of Hatter and Hare being a disgruntled couple, but... I can't believe I'm saying this: he had his speculation too.

I decided I will give him part 4 and maybe 6, as the whole thing is kind of long, but if he asks for more, I would be (more than) happy to. This has given me some time to revise it as well, to remove some errors and some of the swearing. (Sorry Kate.)  I wanted to keep the language at an effective level, instead of overused.

It's taking me some time to believe it, though. That we talked so long, that he was so nice to me, that we were doing voices over the phone, that I'm sending him my work, and that he wants to keep in touch with me. I woke up this morning wondering if I dreamed the whole thing up or had inserted details to my fancy that never were.

I would like to become more acquainted with him, though. And I hope when I send him the link to his interview, whenever the site is finished, he is able to pass it along to some of the others. They all deserve to know their work is appreciated and lives on.
