I feel sure tonight I will have a reputable new chapter for He's There, I'm just hoping when I finish it I'm not exhausted from work. This is my third day in a row -- I know, wtf am I tired about, 3 days is probably below normal for most people, but not for me. Plus I'm kind of sick of working at a restaurant. But that's beside the point!
I was reading The Phantom of the Opera, (you know, that novel thing that all of this is based off of XD), I say this because I haven't read the book for going on 6 years. I think when I was 15 this was too much of a read for me, but going back to it, I didn't realize how intense it was! Christine described his head as being like his Red Death mask if it started moving and talking. He slept in a freaking COFFIN and said "we have to get used to everything, even eternity."
He reminded me of my Phantom in that Christine "overwhelmed him with abuse" a few times, having been trapped in the lair, and he just came back with a bunch of gifts and was sorta like "Hgh, yeah I know you're upset, but I'm just being honest about all this".
And when she ripped off his mask, he got so angry with her, he made her dig her fingernails into his face until they broke the skin.
Although what's great about this novel, it seems, is that it's mixed genre. It's horror, and romance, and even comedy - the parts with M. Firmin were great. It didn't seem like something a French man had written 100 years ago. He was totally clueless of all the things he was in charge of as head of the Opera. So when people came talking to him about mysterious shit going down, he was like, "WE HAVE A HORSE STABLE?!" His repeated questioning reminded me of the Mad Hatters as Disneyland, if you can imagine what they'd be like running the Paris Opera. And then when he finally found out what his employees were saying he'd be like "well I won't stand for this fuckery". And then Erik would send him angry letters. Agghgh. <3
I'm gonna have to sit down and read this during Winter break or something.
